Long summer break

Hey ya'll! I know its been a while. We've had a long an interesting summer and I haven't had much time to myself lately. At the end of May we moved from Idaho to Maryland, leaving behind all our friends for a new journey. Its been a rough transition. Eva is taking it all in stride being only 18 months old now, but Tabitha has had a hard time. She misses her friends. I've had a rough time as well. I miss my friends. I miss having such an awesome support structure. I also really miss Rexburg. I miss the feel of it. Everyone was a member of the church, you weren't bombarded with inappropriate clothing or language everywhere you go. You didn't have to navigate the hundreds of people smoking at every exit, everywhere you go. There was also the feeling of community. Almost everyone in our complex would spend the afternoons outside chasing our kids together and helping each other out. I really miss that.
Maryland is beautiful. The trees are amazing, I love that there are little ponds everywhere. I love that there is so much historical significance to teach my kids. I love that I can take them to the smithsonian and teach and show them so many things I couldn't have back in Idaho. I have better medical care for Tabitha here. We have started the process to get Tabitha into ABA therapy and into preschool. There are so many programs that will help her that we couldn't get back in Idaho. Morgen has a great job. He just finished his training and will soon be starting actual work, which he is excited about.
I haven't had much time or a place to sew and most of my stuff is still back in Idaho in our storage unit, which is kind of a pain.
I really hope to get back to crafting, and writing soon. I pulled out a dress that I started when Tabitha was 18 months old. I will hopefully finish it soon so Eva can wear it. I have actually made a different version of this dress (its my own pattern) before and I have been wanting to write a pattern for it so you all could make one too so that is my current goal.
When we moved to Maryland from Idaho we couldn't come out first to find a place so we had to hope that we would find something good like we did when we moved to Idaho. Unfortunately it didn't work out that way. We ended up in an awful place that was dirty and starting to fall apart. We were able to move again to a much nicer place but it was a stressful move and cost all we had to make a second move.
We are trying to get settled now and will hopefully get back to our regular routine soon.
Not that this has anything to do with the post, its just a fun picture we took before leaving rexburg.

Thankful Thursday: Morgen

There are a lot of things I am thankful for, but this week I have come to the realization of just how thankful I am for Morgen. Morgen has been gone for a week for interviews, its been pretty rough on the girls. Tabitha is such a daddies girl and she is having a hard time with him being gone. I have been really sad without Morgen here. He comes home tomorrow night and I couldn't be more excited. Saturday is Evangeline's birthday and I am looking forward to spending time with my family. I Love my family and my husband more than anything and I'm so very thankful for him.

Thankful Thursday. 9 pm

Today I'm thankful for 9 pm. Tabitha is in bed at 7:45 most nights. Then I come down and nurse Eva on the couch. This is my time to spend with just her. I also get to watch something that isn't animated which is awesome. Morgen and I get to talk without hearing "mommy! Mommy! Mommy! I'm trying to talk to you!" The second we open our mouths. It's not that we don't love talking to Tabitha because we do. It's just nice to have adult conversations too. So today I'm thankful for 9 pm. Tabitha is asleep in her room. Eva is asleep on my chest and I get to lay on the couch and watch alias. Not bad at all. Oh and I get to watch morgen do a little dance to the end credit music which is awesome ;)

Sickness

The plague seems to have invaded my house again. I'm totally sick. Eva is sick. Morgen is sick. And Tabitha, well Tabitha is trying her best to convince me she isn't sick. She doesn't want to miss story time and preschool tomorrow. We shall see. But today, she spent the day crying over nothing, or curled up on my lap while we zoned infront of the tv.
I had a total crappy mom day where I let her watch wonder pets and eat dry cereal all day. I then made hotdogs for dinner. Just hotdogs. No buns. No vegetables. No salad. Yea. I'm awesome like that. Tabitha asked for more chex with her hotdog. Sure why not.
Then about an hour and a half before bedtime I lost it. Tabitha had hit me in the stomach with some grabbing toy and I had had enough. He had been trying to force me to play some game as I was trying desperately not to puke all over the living room. I told her to go to timeout. In the span of 5 minutes, Tabitha refused to go to timeout, lost all three of her stories, hit me again and got taken to her room. I got her ready for bed and she passed out. That is how I know she's sick. An hour before bed she was out cold with no fight. Although she woke up at 9:30 (my bad, I went to check on her an accidentally woke her) and she started asking to come to my bed( nope once you get your own bed there is no coming back to mine). We got her back to bed, but I think we will be containing the plague here in our own home tomorrow rather than preschool and story time.
But at least some of us are cute when we're sick. ( I mean Eva, because its definitely not me!)

Summer Blog Challenge 26-31

So I'm pretty behind on my summer blog challenge posts, I've just been swamped lately so i'm gonna try to bang out all my over due ones in one post tonight! Ready?

Day 26  What does your significant other do that makes your heart melt?
Before having kids, I probably would have said that it was how Morgen is always doing little things, like slipping a love note on my front seat or picking a flower on his way home. He still does those things and I still love those things, but whats more heart melt worthy is how amazing he is with the girls. When Tabitha wants to play tea party, or dress up he is right there doing what she wants, but he is also amazing at teaching our girls the right thing to do . I love when he come home at night and Tabitha yells "Daddy! Your back!" and runs and gives him a hug and the first thing he does is cover her in hugs and kisses. Melts my heart every time.

Day 27 What's the best gift you've ever received?
The best gift I ever received? My two beautiful girls! Without a doubt. We waited so long for them, and I couldn't have imagined any more amazing girls.
Tabitha and her HUGE cheeks!

Eva ever the cuddlier baby!

My two sweet girls

Day 28 How do you do your laundry?? Give your laundry tricks.

We make our own laundry soap (Via Tipnut)

1 quart Water (boiling)
2 cups Bar soap (grated)
2 cups Borax
2 cups Washing Soda
  • Add finely grated bar soap to the boiling water and stir until soap is melted. You can keep on low heat until melted.
  • Pour the soapy water mixture into a large, clean pail and add the Borax and Washing Soda. Stir well until all is dissolved.
  • Add 2 gallons of water, stir until well mixed.
  • Cover pail and use 1/4 cup for each load of laundry. Stir the soap each time you use it (will gel).
I use this for everyday laundry and wash on cold with an extra rinse then dry in the dryer. I also throw in a scoop of sun oxyclean.
For Cloth Diapers I use Rockin Green. I do a cold rinse with no detergent. A hot wash with two scoops of hard rock detergent and every 3 loads I do a scoop of calgon because we have really hard water. Then I do two rinse cycles, one hot and one cold. Then I line dry my diapers and throw the inserts and wipes in the dryer.

Day 29 Write a "How To" post
I'm working on this one and will post it soon.

Day 30 Post a photo of an outfit that either is your style or you wish was your style.
These are the kinds of dresses I love, and I actually have a few this style but they are kind of hard to nurse in so I don't wear them often.

More often than not, I wear a skirt with a camisole and a cardigan.

Day 31 Talk about something eco friendly that you already do.

Some of the Ecofriendly things we already do are:

  • Cloth Diapering
  • Recycling
  • Buying used clothes and toys rather than new
  • Walk as much as we can rather than drive
  • repurpose whatever we can. Usually clothes.

Moving

Its been a while since i’ve posted, but i’ve been super busy. After Christmas we drove down to see my mom in Arizona, We were there for a week, and then Morgen left for Rexburg. The day before Morgen left, My mom got sick, the day Morgen left he wound up getting sick, and the next day I got sick. It was a horrible week of sickness for all of us.
Tabitha and I ended up staying for a week and a half after morgen left. Then my mom and I drove to Morgan Hill so that we could pack all the rest of Morgen and my stuff up and we could pack the moving truck. With a lot of help from Shelby and the Missionaries we were able to get it all packed up. The day we left I took the car to get checked out, oil changed and so forth. We didn’t end up leaving until after 2:30 so we only drove to Reno the first day and we stayed at the El Dorato (thanks to hotwire.com we only paid $19 a room!) We had a super yummy dinner and breakfast at the buffet. The next day we drove from Reno to Rexburg, it took us 15 hours to make the drive, I drove most of the way because I get so car sick, but I started having a back spazzim about 4 hours from Rexburg that was so bad I ended up having a pannic attack wich made the back pain worse. We ended up staying at a subway resturant for about an hour. Then my mom drove the rest of the way. We got to our house just after midnight saturday morning. My mom had to take the Salt Lake express sunday morning and then took a plane home.
Morgen and I had to wait till Friday for the truck to get here and get our bed. I was so tired of sleeping on the floor so I was so excited to get our bed! Some of the guys in the ward came over to help empty the truck for us. Then I emptied most of the boxes by wedensday. The Downstairs looks pretty good, but Tabitha’s room still has about 15 boxes in it. The bathroom has 2 the hallway has 1 our room has 2 and the kitchen has 4. Tabitha’s toddler bed still isn’t set up, but I’m hoping we can get it taken care of soon since Tabitha’s been supper kicky lately and I’m not sleeping well. Plus she woke up and tried to climb out of bed twice both times falling out of bed. The first time she cut her lip really bad, the second time luckily she fell on some blankets I had put on the floor just in case. Our little bed gates aren’t really doing anything these days. =(
Tabitha is seeming to enjoy the snow, although she seems to not understand that its cold, and after a little bet she freaks out. But she (and I) loves to walk on the thin ice and crack it. However I don’t like walking on the 3 inches of ice that is our parking lot.
Its been rediculously cold here. Aparently I do that to weather. When we moved to Morgan Hill it was the hotest summer in years, apparently its not usually as cold as its been here recently too. The other morning I had to go with morgen to school, and we couldent understand why it felt so cold! But when we got inside and I checked the weather it turns out it was -15! Crazy! I’m hoping that the weather channel knows what they are talking about because they said its supposed to be getting a little warmer.
We are really excited to be in our own home and we are trying to get adjusted.

What I've been doing, while I was not on here!

SO I know I've been super lazy busy and haven't posted anything in a month! Wow! Ok so this is what I've been up too.
Babycakes is teething (4 coming in at once), She's also started the terrible 2's a little early, all day long its "NO, MINE!" Well let me tell you I could do without that sentence in my life!
My Wonderful DH got a JOB! YAYAYA! So excited about that one since Christmas was looking very lean around here!
We're Moving! Finally! Thats right, the plan right now is to move our stuff to AZ sometime the week after christmas, then for DH to go to ID and start school, then BabyCake and I will join him a week later with all our stuff! Whew! I'm tired just thinking about it!
I decided to close my ETSY shop until after the move, It was just too much work to try to keep it going when really it wasn't going anywhere. Plus with no time to sew It was looking a little sad!
PACKING, PACKING, PACKING!
CLEANING, CLEANING, CLEANING!
Trying to get as many Christmas Presents done as I can before the middle of the month, I need to send them to AZ and Pack up all my craft stuff!
I've also been getting ready to sell some stuff at a craft fair my mom's group is putting together, I have a ton of half finished items that need to be finished by sunday!
Looking for housing in ID, thats kind of a pain when I'm in CA!
DISNEYLAND! YEAY! We took Tabitha to Disneyland for the first time. The first day not so fun, rained all day and so she had to stay in her stroller and it was crowded. But the second day was wonderful, sunny, warm, and no crowds!
We've decided we are going back for her 2nd birthday! We've lived in CA our whole lives and never owned Disneyland passes, we're moving to ID and buying disneyland passes! haha!

Well I actually have some fun stuff planned for the blog this month in between all the packing and time outs! =)
Hope you all are having a wonderful December so far!

right now

i'm...
watching Tabitha play in her ball house, shes laying in it kicking the walls and throwing balls in the air. Definitely a birthday success present.
thinking about doing a tutorial for the shirt I made Tabitha, but also thinking that its not that good and no one really cares. eh.
Tabitha is crawling on my back as I type.
really wanting to watch America the story of Us on the History channel tonight, I'm taping it for tomorrow.
just finished filling out the transcript requests for Morgen to send to CSU Bakersfield.
thinking I want another cupcake,
wishing Tabitha's cold or whatever it is would go away and I could have my sweetie pie back
Telling Morgen its time for him to be Tabitha's pony, my shoulder hurts
Thinking about how cheap it is to live in Bakersfield
Thinking I'd hate to leave all my friends to go there
knowing that whatever happens the lord has a plan for us.
counting down the minutes till Tabitha's bed time (If i put her down too early she'll be up in 2 hours and then not go down till 12)
trying to figure out how I'm gonna finish the new shirt I'm working on for Tabitha. loosely based on this dress
wanting to make this dress
Its from Tea Collection, I love their stuff but not their prices, yowza!
Excited that tomorrow I'll hopefully get more fabric from the fat quarter exchange I did on Sew Mama Sew!
Thinking I'm gonna use some of the fabric I've already received to do make a dress like that.
Listening to Tabitha "play" the piano with her feet!
Thinking the best sound in the world is to hear Tabitha say "mama mama mama"
Knowing I'm so blessed!

Project 365 day 23

So Saturday was not a good day for us. Somehow morgen forgot to submit his SJSU application, even though it was finished, and now he has yet again missed the deadline to apply. So he spent Saturday scrambling to find a way to go to school in the fall since he has taken way to many units at the JC and really can't take anything else. He has to do a petition to BYUI and He's waiting to hear back from BYU, he is also looking at spring for UC Santa Cruz, and if SJSU offers any spring admittance, which isn't likely since they didn't this year due to budget cuts, he'll apply there. So needless to say there was some major stress around the house that day. Late in the afternoon, I took Morgen over to get his hair cut. I was tired of him looking like a chick, and they did a good job. I forgot to take any pictures on Saturday, which is weird because I take pictures everyday. But While I was uploading the pictures I took friday and today, I found some super cute pictures of Tabitha from June. I haden't gotten them off my camera since my battery was dead and I couldn't find the cord, so I'll share with you some cute old school Tabitha. =)

My child has awesome bedhead (more of that for tomorrows post!)

She still makes that super cute face when she sleeps!

Watch out she'll take your nose off!

11:42

I know its lat, but I'm up, listening to morgen snore, loudly. I'm reading the blogs I like to follow, reading some news and finding some new funny articles. Sometimes Its nice to have some time to myself, even if it is at 11:42 with morgen snoring very loudly.

project 365 day 5

Tabitha's first bloody lip.
Tabtitha was playing with some board games in the ottoman and morgen decided she was putting to much in her mouth. He thought she was holding onto the ottoman, it turns out she was holding onto the game for dear life, when he tried to take it away from her it hit her in the face and she got a bloody lip, we didn't realize she was bleeding till she spit blood on me. But I calmed her down then gave her a cold paper towel to chew on and she was happy as a clam, probably because I was actually letting her chew on paper for once and thats her favorite.

Project 365 day 4

This pony almost got put down!
This is Tabitha's new pony Liberty, Her Nana and Avo gave it to her for Christmas, she really likes to ride it. I decided it can't be that hard to put together I'll do it while Morgen is at work no problem. Yea... big problem. I got it all done till I tried to attach all the rubber band springs. Seriously I thought I was going to pull my arm out of the socket in order to get the stupid things on. I finally had to wait for morgen and he pulled while i attached. This pony will never be taken apart it will be moved like this and stored like this forever. Because I will never put this thing back together.

project 365 day 3

The Great waffle thief!
So we woke up on sunday at Sara and Richards house and we went to the Farmers Market before we got on the road home. we grabbed breakfast there, and Tabitha and I shared pancakes. Well apparently that wasn't enough because she also ate some of viv's waffle. before we left Viv had only eaten one triangle so i took one of them for Tabitha on the road. She was asleep when i put her in her car seat, and I put it in her cup holder for when she woke up. Well apparently she woke up before morgen did and he woke up to this, she had taken the waffle out of the cup holder and was ripping it to shreds with her two teeth! The ride home was pretty good, we made it home before 8:30 and we didn't leave LA till noon, I think thats pretty good with an almost 9 month old.

My Husband Rocks!

My Husband Rocks! Today he made dinner for me (it was my turn but i went to enrichment), Did some laundry for me and finished my new banner for my blog! He's just so awesome!
In Christmas news, I finally got everything i need to make presents and i now have a ton of sewing to do in the next few weeks. Tomorrow we need to finish our christmas cards so i can get them out before saturday. We also need to take pictures of our stroller and post it for sale on Craigslist, so if anyone is interested in a basicly new Mia Moda Atmousferra stroller We're selling ours for $300, we paid over $400 with shipping. ITs just not what we need, and some friends are going to sell us thier uppa baby vista since they just had another baby and are getting a double stroller.
Still no news on BYU for morgen, DeAnza is taking forever to send his transcripts to BYU, they have had all his other transcripts for a while, but DeAnza is taking thier sweet time. Its looking more and more likely that he will have to switch is application to the spring instead of winter.
I'm almost finished with this semseter at gav, I have a few more weeks left of my worthless art class. Seriously i didn't learn anything in this class except that the teacher thinks that the only artists are photographers, and that she doesn't care if you have a learning disablity, if you spell a word wrong she will yell at you, (as in use all caps and tell you to fix your spelling, its an online class so using all caps and a bunch of exclimation points is equal to yelling, i think she needs to take a class in netiqite). My film class ended 2 weeks early and i thouhgt i wasn't doing well, although the teacher gives no feedback when you turn in stuff, but when i went to turn in the DVD with my film, he said i did a great job on my other projects. So cool!
I'm trying to figure out what classes i'm gonna take next semester. It depends on where morgen goes to school, if he goes to west valley, i'm going to take some photography and a sewing class, if he goes to Gav i'm goning to take some child development and health education classes.

I'm looking forward to Tabitha's first christmas, its going to be so much fun! We're going to see santa on saturday so we'll see how that goes. I'll post pics if she doesn't cry. I hate those pictures of children crying on Santa's lap, i don't know why people find them funny?
We went and got our chirstmas tree the other day and it was so much fun.
Usually it takes hours to find the right tree, and this time, we drove in asked the guy where we might find an 18 foot tree (yes 18 feet) and he directed us to the back of the cut your own lot. We went on a one lane road to the back of the property and about 5 min after we got out they had found our tree and everyone agreed it was the one. its so pretty. we even got a spice angel to hang up in the kitchen while we were there.
These are pictures from lunch, we went to a Chines place after getting the tress, and tabitha had cheerios. she is getting really good at feeding herself.

Tabitha is doing so good, i swear every day she's learing something new!
She is so sweet and she giggles all the time now. Here is a super cute video of her on the swings the other day.

Good Night all!
